When you work in Hollywood, having your weight scrutinized by the tabloids is a given. Men are typically under less pressure. And comedians? It\u2019s almost seen as a bonus if they\u2019re at least slightly overweight.<\/p>\n

So when funny man Zach Galifianakis stepped out in public for the first time in many months\u00a0looking more like his blue-eyed Hangover co-star Bradley Cooper\u00a0and less like, well, Zach Galifianakis, many were shocked.<\/p>\n

Now many are wondering, how did he do it? In typical Zach Galifianakis fashion, his explanation has an element of humor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stopped drinking<\/strong><\/a> and I just kind of put the weight off\u2026I was having a lot of vodka with sausage\u2026delicious but bad for you.”<\/p>\n

Sounds simple enough — stop drinking and start losing. A\u00a0British study<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0revealed that \u201cpeople are woefully unaware of the weight-gaining consequences of\u00a0drinking alcohol, particularly if you drink on a regular basis. The Know Your Limits campaign polled 2,000 adults in England, and researchers found that 40 percent of the people didn\u2019t know that a glass of wine has the same calories as a slice of cake (120).\u201d<\/p>\n

But could there be more to his transformation? We may never know, given his disposition to avoiding the spotlight.<\/p>\n

Galifianakis, who stepped back on the scene to premiere his most recent film, Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance)<\/em>, at the New York Film Festival, isn\u2019t exactly a fan of being a celebrity.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a celebrity is s***ty, it’s dumb, and I’m not interested in it,” he blasted in an interview<\/a><\/strong>. “I like to be an actor, and that’s it. The blurred lines are, I think, man-made. I think celebrity is a man-made thing; it’s not innate in us\u2026I’d rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n

It definitely seems his\u00a0motivation\u00a0was something internal, not external, which is a major success indicator when it comes to\u00a0weight loss. Whatever his reason or method, we\u2019re happy he\u2019s pursuing a healthier version of his very funny self.<\/p>\n
