According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, people eat more calories and make unhealthier food decisions on days that they drink. Read: fried, greasy foods consumed well after dinner time.<\/p>\n<p>It makes sense because, as we all know, <strong><a title=\"alcohol alternatives\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/03\/alternatives-to-alcohol\/\">alcohol<\/a><\/strong> lowers your inhibitions. We\u2019ve all woken up thinking, \u201cwhy did I do\/say\/eat\/text that?\u201d. It\u2019s because alcohol causes us to focus on immediate gratification (yummy, fatty food) rather than long term goals (yummy, flat tummy).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There are some things you can do to combat the drunk munchies, and no, it\u2019s not just <em>not<\/em> drinking. (Although that would help, too!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>#1<\/strong> Limit your alcohol consumption to 2 drinks per day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2<\/strong> Sit at least 30 feet away from the bar; any closer, and you\u2019ll consume 1.7 times as much alcohol, according to <em>Men\u2019s Health.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>#3<\/strong> Before you drink, eat a snack rich in protein and healthy fats, like nuts.
