They do not use saw palmetto, pygeum, lycopene, or any other ingredient that has actually demonstrated clinically that they can help men’s prostate and urinary performance. They also do not use any of the core vitamins and nutrients that are required for basic prostate health and functionality.

Instead, what they do feature is a blend of root, seed, and fruit extracts that have been used in Ayurvedic medicine, but that do not have any scientific proof of their effectiveness for prostate support products. Ayurvedic medicine is an ancient Indian form of healing and medicine that is largely been proven to be inaccurate by modern science.

As discredited as the broader philosophies of Ayurveda have been, some of the ingredients that are used in their remedies have been shown to have some uses for health, wellness, or medicinal purposes. Tribulus, for example, is an effective testosterone function booster that is used in many of the most sophisticated male enhancement supplements.

It has not, however, demonstrated much usefulness for prostate health, which is what ProstaCare claims to be formulated for. Tribulus terrestris may help erectile function, libido levels, and athletic performance, however it is not thought to be useful for increasing urinary function or improving any of the other symptoms of BPH, CP, or prostate inflammation.

The other ingredients in ProstaCare also have only minimal applications for prostate health, if they have any at all. This includes their lead ingredient bonduc, which is a kind of seed that comes from the flowering plant caesalpinia bonduc.

Bonduc is also known as divi-divi or grey nicker, and the hard, white, buoyant seed that it produces are known as nickernuts. There are some people that have claimed that it can be useful for helping to reduce fever or diabetes, however there are not even anecdotal claims in the Ayurvedic community that bonduc has applications for prostate health.

Caper bark is the next listed ingredient in ProstaCare and, like bonduc, there is not even a history within Ayurvedic medicine of capers being used to improve prostate health. Caper buds are a common food item and are thought to be high in polyphenols, which could potentially be somewhat useful for prostate health, however the bark of the tree is not thought to be as rich of a source.

The only other ingredient in ProstaCare’s proprietary mix, shatavari, has the exact same problems as the other additives that have already been mentioned. Shatavari is not thought to be effective for improving prostate or urinary function by either western medicine or even within Ayurvedic traditions, and any of the other benefits that it may have are not well documented.

Shatavari is an extract taken from a specific strain of asparagus that has been connected to a variety of health benefits including reducing anxiety, improving gastro-intestinal function, dementia, diabetes, and easing the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. None of these functions tend to be associated with even the secondary benefits of effective prostate products, and it is unclear why the manufactures of ProstaCare believe that shatavari, or any of the other ingredients in their proprietary blend, could help improve prostate health and functionality.

To see which products had the honor of being named to our experts annual Top Ten Prostate Supplements list, just follow this link.

Potential Benefits of ProstaCare

There is very little evidence that concretely demonstrates the potential effects of ProstaCare. None of their ingredients have been subjected to the type of testing that our review team likes to see before encouraging our readers to start ingesting them on a daily basis.

According to Ayurvedic tradition, it is possible that the herbs in ProstaCare could have anti-inflammatory, antihepatoxic, and immunomodulatory effects, as well as some possible benefits for blood sugar and insulin production. These effects are not confirmed through laboratory experimentation, and our team does not recommend using ProstaCare for these purposes.

Are There Side Effects of ProstaCare?

Unfortunately, another consequence to using ingredients that do not have an extensive amount of study performed on them is that they also do not have a large amount of safety information available. Bonduc, shatavari, and caper in particular lack any significant information about their potential long-term effects, and the only short term effects that have been observed are skin rash and irritation in a small percentage of capers consumers.

Betel nut is the ingredient in ProstaCare that worries our team of experts the most. It is not considered safe for regular consumption or for consumption in larger quantities, as it is possible that only 8g of betel nut can be fatal.

Even in smaller doses, it is possible that betel nut consumption can lead to vomiting, blood pressure issues, heart arrhythmia, heart attacks or comas. If taken over a prolonged period of time, betel nut can also potentially increase the chances that consumers develop certain types of cancer. Other potential side effects associated with betel nut consumption include hypertension, tachycardia, increased risk in developing diabetes, and mental deterioration and the worsening of certain psychiatric disorders.

It is also possible that individuals with tree nut allergies could have a negative reaction to the ingredients in ProstaCare. Those individuals are advised to consult with their health care provider before beginning regular consumption of ProstaCare.

For more reviews from our experts analyzing the top prostate health products on the market today, click here.

EDITOR’S TIP: Combine this pill with a proven prostate support pill such as Prostatrinex for better results

How to Buy ProstaCare

Products from Himalaya Herbal Healthcare, the manufacturer of ProstaCare, tend to be available in many larger supplements stores in the United States, and they are also widely available online. They are not sold through their own website, however there are a number of other third party distributors that carry ProstaCare.

There is a very wide range of prices that are charged for ProstaCare. The general range that it is generally offered in includes:

1, 120-count bottle (60-day supply) of ProstaCare capsules: $19.95-$48.95

There is no reason given for the wide gap in potential pricing, however interested customers are encouraged to search for the best pricing option available. There is no reliable data about any of their ingredients abilities to benefit the prostate, and even most Ayurvedic texts do not suggest these ingredients for that use.

It seems very hard to imagine that ProstaCare could be at all effective for men that are suffering from conditions like BPF, CP, or severe inflammation of the prostate. The vast majority of individuals that have been diagnosed with these conditions will need to seek out more potent and effective products than ProstaCare.

Furthermore, our team also does not recommend any product that uses betel nut in their ingredients mix. Not only does it have no history of success for treating prostate and urinary health issues, but it also has the potential to have very serious health consequences for its users.

Overall, there is very little reason to consider recommending ProstaCare. Its ingredients do not have an established history of success, however it does present some potentially serious health consequences that deeply concern our team of experts. Our team cannot, in good conscience, recommend ProstaCare to our readers for any reason.

The male health supplement that they do recommend users in need of prostate support try is called Prostatrinex.
