Injuries can be prevented by\u00a0proper warm-up,\u00a0proper mechanics and techniques, proper training and conditioning, and knowledge of\u00a0the activity. Throughout the next few weeks I am going to explore a few of the most common injuries and how to prevent and recuperate from them.<\/p>\n<p>Today, however, I am going to talk about one of the main methods to treat an acute injury (strain or pull). This method is known as the R.I.C.E method, which stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/icing-knee.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1540\" title=\"icing-knee\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/icing-knee.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><strong>Rest<\/strong> will prevent further injury and allow the healing process to take action.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Icing<\/strong> the injury will stop the swelling\u00a0and\u00a0limits the bleeding in the\u00a0injured area by\u00a0constricting injured blood vessels. I recommend\u00a0icing the injury for 20 minutes once every three hours or so. Remember to wrap the ice, direct contact is harmful to the\u00a0body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compression<\/strong> supports the injured joint and helps control the swelling as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elevation<\/strong> reduces blood flow to injured area by using gravity, which in turn reduces swelling.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to leave a comment or <a title=\"matt johnson\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/contact\/Matt\" target=\"_blank\">email<\/a> if you have any questions.
