Many questions like &#8220;Which machines should I use?&#8221; and &#8220;How much weight or how many repetitions?&#8221; can seem overwhelming.<a title=\"woman lifting weights\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/01\/a-beginners-guide-to-weight-training\/\" target=\"_self\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16289\" title=\"woman weights\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/woman-weights.jpg\" alt=\"woman weights\" width=\"270\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. The first thing you need to do is figure out your limitations. Fully understand the <a title=\"fitness injury prevention\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/10\/fitness-injury-prevention-elbow-pain\/\" target=\"_self\">injuries<\/a> that\u00a0you have or have had in the past that may still create a problem today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Next, you need to set a goal. Do you want to reduce body fat, gain weight, increase strength, or increase endurance? Each of these require a modified weight training regimen.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. Then you need to decide how many days you are willing to dedicate or set aside for weight training. I recommend performing a total body weight training routine\u00a0three days a week for those who are trying to lose weight and body fat and five days a week for those who are trying to gain weight.<\/p>\n<p>Each day should consist of a max of two muscle groups plus abdominals, for those wanting to gain weight.<\/p>\n<p>For example: on\u00a0Monday hit chest and back with abs and on\u00a0Tuesday hit biceps and triceps with abs.\u00a0The most important thing is to start slow and gradually progress to a\u00a0heavier weight and more repetitions and sets as the weeks and months roll by.<\/p>\n<p>Also, use machines the first few weeks then progress to cables and free-weights. The machines will\u00a0control your range of motion and teach your body\u00a0proper form\/technique, while\u00a0cables and free-weights require\u00a0muscle stability and correct form.\u00a0You will more than likely be completely sore for the first week or two of weight training, but it&#8217;s your body&#8217;s way of adapting to the new exercise (which is a good thing).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4.
