Today,\u00a0medicine balls are usually round and made of rubber or leather, but they do come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and materials.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/beginners-guide-to-medicine-balls\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-19555\" title=\"medicine-ball\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/medicine-ball.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Medicine balls generally range from two to 25 pounds, and are typically used for standard <a title=\"plyometric weight training\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/07\/top-5-simple-plyometric-exercises\/\" target=\"_self\">plyometric weight training<\/a>, which is characterized by fast powerful movements and muscle contractions to increase speed, power, strength, and flexibility.<\/p>\n<p>Medicine balls are very durable and can be used just about anywhere.\u00a0Athletes commonly use them\u00a0for explosive training\u00a0(quick and powerful movements)\u00a0by throwing them\u00a0to the ground or off a sturdy wall.\u00a0The medicine ball is also a\u00a0great way to modify and add enjoyment to any weight training exercise or workout.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As a fitness specialist, I incorporate medicine balls into each and every one of my clients&#8217; workouts. I typically use them for <a title=\"ab workout\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/09\/dont-overlook-the-importance-of-lower-abs\/\" target=\"_self\">core strength<\/a> and endurance training, but in other ways as well.
