Equally important to keeping ourselves hydrated is also minimizing our environmental impact. Not only do Americans spend $17 billion a year on bottled water, which is a huge hit to our wallets, but all those plastic bottles have to end up somewhere and it’s typically in our oceans and landfills.

Brita has been a great example of how easy it is to drink clean, filtered water using reusable water pitchers with replaceable filters. The Biggest Loser franchise has partnered with Brita for several seasons of the show to encourage us all to stop buying disposable water bottles through their “Filter for Good” program. All contestants, trainers and staff used Nalgene bottles that they would refill with their Brita pitcher.

While I loved that program, I recently came across a new portable water bottle that I hope will soon be in everyone’s hands (and we are giving ONE away to a lucky reader)! Introducing Bobble, the reusable filtered water bottle. The bottle can be refilled 300+ times, and it is suggested that the filter be changed after 2 months or 40 gallons of water. It’s essentially like taking your large Brita pitcher in your fridge with you on-the-go.

I love the design of the bottle, and fun color options to choose from. The filter resides within the colored top, so each time you go to replace your filter you can change up the color of your bottle….genius. Currently there are 3 sizes available (13oz, 18.5oz and 34oz), allowing you to choose which best fits your day.

I have been using my Bobble on a daily basis and the only issue I have encountered is tracking when the filter needs to be changed. I have not kept a record of when I first started drinking from my Bobble, nor do I know how much water has passed through my filter. A simple indicator alerting me it’s time to change the filter is all I need, and hopefully this is a feature the company is working on.

I’d also like to see the company institute a recycling program for the filters. Currently, it seems the only way to dispose of them is by throwing the filter in the trash. I don’t like the idea of all these plastic filters piling up in our landfills, although, it is clearly a win over the millions of plastic water bottles and caps that turn up everywhere.

I hope that we can all turn the tide on buying reusable water bottles and put them out of production all together. To find out where you can purchase your own Bobble, check out the retail locator.

According to Bobble, “Expended filters are recyclable and can be returned to bobble’s recycling program, reducing the amount of waste involved. You can return your used filters to Bobble Recycling Program, 4205 East Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC 28152. Replacement filters can be purchased for $6.95 MSRP. The bottle can be recycled through your local recycling processes, under designated recycle code 1.”

Win a Bobble!

If you want a chance to win your very own Bobble, we are giving away one to a lucky reader!
