Many more Americans will be eligible for insurance and the changes may affect you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s a summary of the new laws:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preventative procedures, including colonoscopies, mammograms, and immunizations must be covered entirely by insurance companies without co-pay.<\/li>\n<li>People joining a new insurance plan may keep the doctors they already have.<\/li>\n<li>Insurance companies may not deny coverage to <a title=\"Obese Children\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/11\/obese-children-have-adult-health-issues\/\" target=\"_self\">children<\/a> with pre-existing health conditions.<\/li>\n<li><!--more-->Insurers are now forbidden to drop high-cost customers after finding technical mistakes on applications.<\/li>\n<li>Insurers are prohibited from imposing lifetime limits on benefits.<\/li>\n<li>Insurers are required to cover children and young adults under the age of 26 on their parent&#8217;s policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><br \/>\nThe <a title=\"For Many, Health Care Relief Begins Today\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/09\/23\/health\/policy\/23careintro.html?_r=2&amp;hp\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a><\/em> reports that many of the changes are seen as positive by Americans.
