This year, you can use it to save money<em> and<\/em> burn calories.<\/p>\n<p>People might look at you like you&#8217;re crazy for doing some of this stuff, but who cares? Everyone there woke up at four am, but <em>you&#8217;re <\/em>the one turning a marathon sale into a marathon workout. They&#8217;re spending all of their energy fighting over the last whatever-the-hot-toy-of-the-year-is and nothing more. Now who looks like\u00a0the crazy one?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here are some tips to help you\u00a0<a title=\"10 Tips to Sneak a Workout into Your Day\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/07\/10-tips-to-sneak-a-workout-into-your-day\/\" target=\"_blank\">burn major calories<\/a> on the day after Thanksgiving:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start off right <\/strong>by enjoying a\u00a0<a title=\"Breakfast is Key to Boosting Metabolism\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/09\/breakfast-is-key-to-boosting-metabolism\/\" target=\"_blank\">healthy breakfast<\/a>. If you need caffeine, opt for a low calorie drink and include plenty of water. Bring a couple low-calorie (but filling!) snacks so you&#8217;re not tempted by convenience food when you&#8217;re shopping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Take advantage of the sales. <\/strong>Consider hitting up more than one shopping mall. A lot of people avoid exercise because they can&#8217;t stay motivated. It&#8217;s easier to ignore the burn when you&#8217;re shopping and the more you buy, the more time you&#8217;re spending moving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Park far, far away.<\/strong> The temptation to fight someone for the last stall in the first row will be high, but I urge you to resist. Just think about all the extra calories you will burn <a title=\"Add Yoga to Your Walking Exercise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/08\/add-yoga-to-your-walking-exercise\/\" target=\"_blank\">walking<\/a> to and from the car.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make the most of your time in line<\/strong>. I can tell you from grueling experience that Black Friday shopping will involve lines- lots and lots of lines. Capitalize the time you spend in those long, boring (did I say long?) lines, by doing simple stretches or by walking in place.\u00a0Women can also do <a title=\"Kegels Necessary for a Strong Pelvic Floor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/01\/kegel-exercises-necessary-for-a-strong-pelvic-floor\/\" target=\"_self\">kegels<\/a>, but I&#8217;d advise not sharing that with\u00a0the people\u00a0you&#8217;re shopping with. You wouldn&#8217;t want to scare anyone away!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make it Fun! <\/strong>Recruit a shopping buddy and you won&#8217;t be so afraid to do something silly. Propose a friendly competition to see who burns more calories. Wear <a title=\"pedometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/11\/put-a-pedometer-on-your-wish-list\/\" target=\"_self\">pedometers<\/a> to see who can walk the most steps and incorporate exercises whenever you can. Lunges, squats, jumping jacks and\u00a0lifting weights (ie, those gigantic bags of sale-loot you&#8217;ll be carrying) are all ways to burn extra calories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Always take the stairs.<\/strong> Elevators and escalators can be tempting cop-outs when you&#8217;re shopping. If stairs aren&#8217;t an option, try <em>walking<\/em> up the escalator.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, I must stress the importance of\u00a0safety. Please <em>do not<\/em> do anything to endanger yourself or anyone else.
