All of these mouthwatering treats can make it very enticing to abandon your healthy eating behaviors.<\/p>\n<p>Now, more than ever, is the time to remain committed and continue the positive lifestyle changes you\u2019ve already made. And with some helpful eating strategies, you can do just that!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eat Breakfast. <\/strong>You may be tempted to skip <a title=\"breakfast\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/08\/start-your-day-off-right%E2%80%A6eat-breakfast\/\" target=\"_self\">breakfast<\/a> and \u201csave\u201d all your calories for the big feast. Doing this will make you more likely to overeat. If you eat breakfast and a light lunch, you should only be mildly hungry by the time the big meal arrives. This will enable you to make mindful, moderate choices.<!--more--><strong>Use Volumetrics\u00ae strategies to fill your plate<\/strong>.\u00a0 The <a title=\"volumetrics\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/Volumetrics\/\" target=\"_self\">Volumetrics<\/a>\u00ae approach allows you to eat more food and feel more satisfied with fewer calories. Choosing water-rich, high-fiber and low-fat foods allows you to increase your portions, while keeping your calorie intake in check. Substitute lower-fat ingredients when whipping up your favorite dishes.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3604 alignright\" title=\"veggie-tray\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/veggie-tray-300x191.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep an eye on your portions<\/strong>.\u00a0 Fill your plate one time, and use handy household items to visualize what a moderate meal looks like.\u00a0 Here\u2019s an example: 4 ounces of turkey (palm of a man\u2019s hand), 1\/2 cup of mashed potatoes or stuffing (small fist) and at least 1 cup of seasonal, non-starchy vegetables (light bulb).\u00a0 Limit gravy to a tablespoon or two (nail polish bottle).\u00a0 Pop in a piece of sugar-free gum to help you resist going back for seconds.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nStrategize for social situations<\/strong>. You can still enjoy social events, while you are losing weight\u2014all it takes is a little pre-planning. Offer to bring a vegetable platter to your holiday party, so you can fill up on water- and fiber-rich veggies instead of fried appetizers or fudge brownies.
