Raised by a single mother, Ana Alvarado, Irene has struggled with being overweight for most of her life. The past year and a half have been particularly difficult, because she put on an additional 90 pounds, which triggered other health issues. This recent weight gain has lead her to feel sick more often and exacerbated her asthma.
