Losing weight takes commitment and strong willpower. It means exercising daily, journaling your food intake, and choosing water over soda. It means making realistic, attainable goals &#8211; not a goal of losing 100 pounds, but breaking that goal into 5-10 pound increments as many times as necessary.<a title=\"success\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/01\/what-happens-when-you-succeed-with-a-new-years-weight-loss-resolution\/\" target=\"_self\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-39098\" title=\"success\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/success.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"213\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What happens when you do succeed, as I did? <a title=\"weight loss resolution\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/carmen-staicers-weight-loss-success-story\/\" target=\"_self\">I made that fateful New Year&#8217;s Resolution <\/a>on January 1, 2005 and I have to say that those four words &#8211; <em>I will lose weight &#8211; <\/em>have changed my life drastically.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Now, knowing that I was successful in that endeavor, one of the hardest things I have ever done, has helped fuel me for the future. I really wanted to lose weight, but I didn&#8217;t have confidence in my success. After all, I&#8217;d tried countless times before &#8211; but this time it stuck. Now that I know I have been successful, it makes me want to try other areas. I&#8217;m currently working towards my black belt in <a title=\"muay thai boxing\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/07\/beginners-guide-to-muay-thai\/\" target=\"_self\">Muay Thai boxing<\/a>. It&#8217;s more difficult than I ever anticipated, but then again, so was <a title=\"how to lose 80 pounds\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/carmen-staicers-weight-loss-success-story\/\" target=\"_self\">losing 80 pounds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When you succeed with your weight loss efforts &#8211; and I have no doubt you will &#8211; let that success spur you on to your next goal.
