{"id":47148,"date":"2011-04-20T14:32:47","date_gmt":"2011-04-20T19:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/?p=47148"},"modified":"2011-12-23T14:23:16","modified_gmt":"2011-12-23T19:23:16","slug":"motivation-for-weight-loss-must-come-from-within","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/motivation-for-weight-loss-must-come-from-within\/","title":{"rendered":"Motivation for Weight Loss Must Come from Within"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This guest post comes from Paige Corley, a Program Director at the Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I was recently asked to address the whole &#8216;<strong><a title=\"weight loss motivation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/10\/you-have-to-be-your-own-motivation-in-weight-loss\/\">staying motivated<\/a><\/strong>&#8216; thing. This is a toughie because I am not one to distract you with flashing lights, fun music, fad classes, etc.<a title=\"reflection\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/motivation-for-weight-loss-must-come-from-within\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-47152\" title=\"reflection\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/reflection.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Your motivation to workout and to stay healthy can&#8217;t come from a please-distract-me-from-what-I-am-doing strategy&#8230; it should come from that base-line, honest level of I-am-doing-this-because-I-know-I-will-feel-better-after.<\/p>\n<p>When you don&#8217;t feel like working out, that inner voice has to speak and say, &#8220;feeling like working out isn&#8217;t part of the game &#8211; do it anyway.&#8221; Then you just do it because you know you will be happy you did. \u2028This can apply to doing an actual workout &#8211; or to sticking to your meal plan &#8211; or choosing NOT to eat that extra dessert\/serving of healthy food\/etc.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Now, with that said, if you need motivation in the actual workout area, I always use the <strong><a title=\"HIIT training\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/use-high-intensity-interval-training-to-blast-fat-fast\/\">cardio interval class<\/a><\/strong> or mountain class for when I am not really feeling the workout thing. These workouts begin easy &#8211; so you can warm up gradually &#8211; and then they get tough. Usually if you give yourself an extended warm-up you will come around to the workout. Or, if you can,<strong> <a title=\"best fitness classes\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/most-popular-fitness-classes\/\">take a class at the gym<\/a><\/strong> that you really like &#8211; like hip\/hop, <strong><a title=\"what is spinning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/01\/a-beginners-guide-to-spinning\/\">spinning<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a title=\"body pump class\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/most-popular-fitness-classes\/\">body pump<\/a><\/strong>, yoga, or whatever peaks your interest.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, your motivation has to be rooted in your belief that living a healthier, more balanced life will result in you being healthier and more balanced.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the scrub&#8230; you have to really want that.
