Don&#8217;t undo all of the hard work you&#8217;ve done at the gym this year.\u00a0 To keep your diet balanced, celebrity nutritionist <a title=\"celebrity nutritionist Carl Germano \" href=\"http:\/\/www.carlgermano.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carl Germano, RD, CDN<\/a>, shared five simple swaps to keep you eating great tasting foods &#8211; and looking and feeling great.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of: Beef Burger or Sliders with Cheese<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Try: Turkey Sliders with sliced tomato<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ground turkey breast is leaner than most types of ground beef and sliced tomato will offer a powerful punch of <strong><a title=\"healthy sources of lycopene\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/healthy-sources-of-disease-fighting-lycopene\/\">lycopene<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; without the saturated fat in most cheeses. If you must have cheese, try a sprinkling of feta, which is lower in fat and calories than most varieties.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of: Franks on the Grill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Try: Chicken Teriyaki Skewers <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chicken is leaner and often packs more protein than <strong><a title=\"healthy hot dog\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/07\/does-a-healthy-hot-dog-exist\/\">hot dogs<\/a><\/strong>, which are also often processed and laced with unhealthy chemicals. If you&#8217;re going to indulge in a hot dog, look for a variety that boasts 100% beef.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of: Regular Pizza<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Try: Whole Wheat Margarita Pizza <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grilled pizza can be unique and delicious &#8211; but it&#8217;s even better if you use homemade whole wheat crust and a modest amount of cheese. Margherita pizza often has less cheese than the average type and plenty of fresh tomato and basil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of: Chips, Cookies &amp; Brownies Platter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Try: Air Popped Popcorn, Oat Pretzels, Fresh Fruit. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your sweet tooth calls, answer it with fresh fruit. If you&#8217;re craving something crunchy, opt for lower-calorie popcorn (hold the butter) or pretzels that list whole wheat, spelt or oat as one of the first two ingredients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of:\u00a0 Beer, Soda, Juice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Try: Flavored Seltzer and Water <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While the occasional beer or soda won&#8217;t hurt you, summer heat can cause excessive thirst.
