You can never be sure where she\u2019ll pop up \u2013 New York \u2013 or Paris \u2013 Fashion Week; a royal wedding; or a Penn State football game. She\u2019s always on her bike, always smiling, and always looking fabulous\u2026at least on the outside. Wherever she\u2019s seen, you\u2019ll know that she\u2019s bringing her philosophy of empowerment by encouraging adventure.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I consider myself a citizen of the world, but I call Central Pennsylvania my true home.<\/p>\n<p>It was on the rolling hills and wooded mountains of Pennsylvania where I first learned about the zen-ness of <strong><a title=\"cycling for beginners\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/07\/beginners-guide-to-cycling\/\">cycling<\/a><\/strong>. There was also that incident at the Tour de France but I\u2019m not sure I\u2019m legally allowed to talk about that yet\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Moving on\u2026<\/p>\n<p>As much as I love riding \u2013 a commute here, a single-track trail there \u2013 I have to admit I\u2019m still a bit of a girl. A girl who has all the same issues that the girls \u2013 ahem, excuse me, women \u2013 I meet all over the world have. One of them, my dears, is <strong><a title=\"healthy body image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/02\/janet-jackson-on-body-image-and-extreme-dieting\/\">body image<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You look at me and you think, \u201cDear Jane, what on earth do you have to worry about. You are perfection on two wheels. The hair! The skin! The figure! The lips!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>First of all, thank you, thank you, thank you. I am quite fabulous looking, aren\u2019t I? But more importantly, I feel great. Not every day, that\u2019s for sure. I am still human \u2013 and no human who isn\u2019t overly medicated and delusional feels great every day. That\u2019s just not natural.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But feeling great isn\u2019t something that comes naturally for most people. I\u2019ve found my greatness, if you will, from cycling. For me, there is nothing more freeing \u2013 physically and emotionally \u2013 than jumping in the saddle and going for a ride. Long or short. Challenging or cake. Some days it doesn\u2019t matter how far or how fast\u2026it just matters how you feel.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Find Love for Yourself and Your Body by Finding a Love for Fitness\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/05\/find-love-for-yourself-and-your-body-by-finding-a-love-for-fitness\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-48317\" title=\"Young couple cycling on a beach\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cycling-on-beach.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a>I meet women all over the globe who are paralyzed by fitness \u2013 feeling that if they start something new they absolutely must adore it from the get-go, then excel at it, then punish themselves if they don\u2019t go longer and faster and harder every time they lace up their trainers and start exercising.<\/p>\n<p>Pshaw, I say. We\u2019ll, I\u2019d say something a bit stronger but you can never be too sure who is reading a blog post so I\u2019ll keep this as G-rated as I am able.<\/p>\n<p>Pshaw, I say again. Before you start thinking that you have to ride a century or complete a <strong><a title=\"triathlon training\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/videos\/swimming-workouts-for-triathlon-training\/\">triathlon<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 first celebrate that you\u2019re moving.  Each little celebration \u2013 complete with champagne if you dare \u2013 will encourage you to get back out there and do it again, and again, and again. And even if you ride 10 miles one day and only 8 the next \u2013 don\u2019t be discouraged.
