But there&#8217;s more research supporting the idea that short bursts of intense <a title=\"exercise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/exercise-makes-you-happy\/\" target=\"_blank\">exercise<\/a> can also be beneficial, specifically in warding off <a title=\"diabetes\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/Diabetes_Diet\/\" target=\"_self\">diabetes<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/category\/fitness\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5141 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/fitness.jpg\" alt=\"woman on exercise bike\" width=\"299\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You just need to get up and move a little.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, workouts that last as little as three minutes at a time can prevent diabetes by helping control blood sugar, say British researchers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is such a brief amount of exercise you can do it without breaking a sweat,\u201d said James Timmons, an exercise biologist at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, who led the study.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the shocking kicker: Timmons and his team showed that just seven minutes of exercise on a weekly basis helped a group of 16 men in their early 20s control insulin.
