Reports are surfacing that one of the top red wine researchers has falsified some of his findings. In particular, the data that pointed to the<strong> <a title=\"red wine diet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/Red_Wine_Diet\/\">health benefits of red wine<\/a><\/strong> and its anti-aging properties may be false. <a title=\"red wine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/01\/red-wines-health-benefits-may-have-resulted-from-falsified-research-data\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-62794\" title=\"red wine\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/red-wine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/red-wine.jpg 200w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/red-wine-195x300.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dipak K. Das is the director of the cardiovascular research center at the University of Connecticut. An anonymous report dating back to 2026 that Das had falsified his data initiated an investigation that is now coming to light. A 60,000-page report is citing 145 counts of falsified data.<\/p>\n<p>His research includes studies on <strong><a title=\"resveratrol diet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/resveratrol\/\">resveratrol<\/a><\/strong>, a compound found in red wine and touted for many benefits. Those benefits have translated to the encouragement of red wine consumption. Studies have suggested that resveratrol may have the ability to stave off the effects of sedentary living, possibly reduce skin cancer risks, lower \u201cbad\u201d cholesterol levels, or even protect the lining of the heart blood vessels.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Das\u2019 most recent publication was released just this month titled, \u201cHealth benefits of wine and alcohol from neuroprotection to heart health,&#8221; and will no doubt meet great scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>This news is surprising and frustrating to many wine lovers. It\u2019s unclear at this time which studies contained false data or which elements of the studies were fabricated. Red wine could very well still offer many health benefits.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also fair to say that Das wasn&#8217;t the only red wine researcher, and that other researchers feel their work will stand alone even if Das\u2019 findings are retracted.<\/p>\n<p>For now it looks like you can still feel good about pairing your dinner tonight with a glass of red wine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wine lovers may be in for some bad news.
