We recently announced a new fitness game for the Wii, EA SPORTS Active<\/a>, releasing in May. As part of that product launch, EA has partnered with Bob Greene, Alison Sweeney and a few other gamers and bloggers, including Donny and Kari Claxton. They will join a 30-day challenge, beginning with a retreat with the aforementioned celebs in California, and then have 30 days to use the EA SPORTS Active and journal their experience. We invited Donny and Kari to share their thoughts prior to starting the challenge, and they’ll join us again at the completion. Good luck Donny and Kari!<\/em><\/p>\n

Kari, a Dallas-area homemaker, and Donny Claxton, a public relations executive, are joining a new adventure together for the benefit of themselves and their seven children by beginning the 30-day challenge using the soon-to-be-released EA SPORTS Active\u2014an interactive and customized home fitness product for the Nintendo Wii that gives one the benefit of a \u201cpersonal trainer in a box.\u201d<\/p>\n

Donny often tells Kari she\u2019s in very good shape.\u00a0 She\u2019s been using a version of the Atkins diet<\/a> for the past year or so.\u00a0 Donny, who has struggled with weight issues since college, admits he has bad eating habits, including a breakfast, with a large sweetened iced tea and a biscuit.\u00a0 Kari, on the other hand, has Kashi<\/a> cereal for breakfast, eats very little bread and as few carbs as possible.<\/p>\n

Their life diets are quite different and both feel that\u2019s affecting the lives of their seven kids\u2014four who are Kari\u2019s, and three who are Donny\u2019s.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to learning new, fun ways to exercise and a routine that I can stick with,\u201d Kari said.\u00a0 \u201cMy main goal is to tone my body and keep the weight off I\u2019ve lost in the past year.\u00a0 I also want to find ways that Donny and I can work out together to keep each other motivated.\u00a0 Learning how to cook healthy for a family of nine is a necessity.\u00a0 Not only will this challenge be beneficial for me, but also beneficial for the entire family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the 30-day challenge and the world watching because the accountability will help me fight my bad habits,\u201d Donny said before beginning the program.\u00a0 \u201cEating is a weakness and where I find comfort. That must change in the next month.\u00a0 I\u2019m embarrassed about my weight.\u00a0 I\u2019m doing this to save my life and to be a positive influence for my seven kids.\u00a0 This is an excellent chance to make a difference in so many ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the challenge, Kari and Donny will be adding information to his site, DadsCenter.org<\/a>, a site Donny has hosted since 2004, as well as the EA SPORTS Active <\/a>site.<\/p>\n
