There\u2019s many of them out there like, \u201cDon\u2019t eat after such and such time,\u201d \u201cStop eating bread and carbs,\u201d or \u201cEat eight tiny meals a day.\u201d Most of this can be overturned and found to be another empty promise of how to lose weight. One myth that seems to be pushed is about how water has the power to flush out fat from the body. Sadly, it seems this may be just another myth.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-71437\" title=\"water bottle\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/water-bottle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/water-bottle.jpg 301w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/water-bottle-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The myth is often stated that, \u201cdrinking eight glasses of water a day flushes out fat.\u201d Truth is, that\u2019s simply not true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8230;There\u2019s no magic about drinking water,&#8221; says Sue Gebo, RD, MPH, an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Gebo explains that water cannot flush away fat, that is just a hopeful myth. While water can not perform this trick, a Virginia Tech University study explains how this myth may have started.<\/p>\n<p>The study found that people who drank 16 ounces of water prior to eating a meal actually consumed 75 to 95 fewer calories than the control group. Both groups in the study were on prescribed<strong> <a title=\"low calorie diet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/low-calorie-diet\/\">low-calorie diets<\/a><\/strong> and on average the water drinkers lost more weight, 4.5 pounds more than the non-water drinkers.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While water may aid in weight loss, it does not flush fat. And don\u2019t let the myth give water a bad name, there are plenty of <strong><a title=\"benefits of water\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/08\/10-reasons-you-need-more-water-than-you-think\/\">great reasons to keep drinking water<\/a><\/strong>. For instance, it\u2019s one of the best ways to stay hydrated, it can improve skin texture, and it can help aid in digestion. These are just a few of the many great reasons to drink up.<\/p>\n<p>Be leery of too-good-to-be-true diet tips, or <strong><a title=\"diet myths\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet-myths\">diet myths<\/a><\/strong>.
