The <strong><a title=\"Low Fat Diet \" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/low-fat-diet\/\">low-fat<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a title=\"Low Carb Diet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/low-carb-diet\/\">low-carb<\/a><\/strong>, and low-glycemic index diet were test by 21 participants who are overweight or obese.<a title=\"mediterranean diet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/06\/mediterranean-diet-more-likely-to-keep-weight-off-than-other-diets\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-74312\" title=\"mediterranean diet\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mediterranean-diet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview of Calories per Diet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Low Fat<\/strong>: 60% of calories are carbohydrates, 20% of calories are protein, and 20% of calories are fat.\u00a0The foods included in the diet are whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. The low-fat diet reduces the amount of fatty meats, oils, nuts, and other fat products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Low Carb (Atkins Diet)<\/strong>: 10% of calories are carbs, 30% of calories are protein, and 60% of calories are from protein. Types foods included in the diet are little to no carbohydrates, high amounts of beef, chicken, eggs, cheese, and there are some fruits and vegetables in the diet plan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Low-Glycemic Index Diet<\/strong> (Mediterranean Diet): 40% of calories are carbs, 40% of calories are fat, 20% of calories are from protein. The foods in the diet are whole grains, low fat meats, fruits, vegetables, beans, and healthy fats from olive oil and nuts.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The study results shows participants who were given the Mediterranean Diet burned 150 calories more each day than those on the other two diets. Plus, the <strong><a title=\"low glycemic index diet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/the-low-glycemic-index-diet\/\">low-glycemic index diet<\/a><\/strong> had no harmful effects on the dieters.<\/p>\n<p>The low-carb diet participants burned the most calories compared to the low-fat participants, however there were side effects.
