Alli was the first FDA approved diet pill to hit the market and experienced a shortage recently. “We had experienced a supply shortage of the active ingredient used to make the product,” a representative from GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare said in an email. “The supply issue has been resolved.”\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The active ingredient they are referring to is orlistat. It helps with weight loss\u00a0by suppressing the body’s ability to absorb fat in the intestines and can block up to 25 per cent. When the body is unable to absorb the fats<\/a><\/strong> they become undigested waste.<\/p>\n

Studies on the amount of weight loss you can lose<\/a><\/strong> with Alli are limited but you can expect to lose three to five pounds more a year than if you were relying on diet and exercise alone. The representative of GlaxoSmithKline\u00a0did not provide a reason for the shortage but said that Alli has been shipped to store warehouses and is on its way back to local retailer\u2019s. In the mean time, if you have ran out of the medication, there are still things you can do to continue your weight loss or maintenance.<\/p>\n

When you purchase the product you are able to set up your own account on a section of the website called “myalliplan”. It is a good resource to use, especially if you are new to leading a healthier lifestyle. They encourage those who take Alli to also\u00a0follow a low-fat diet with regular exercise<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Even if you happen to run out of the product, continue eating a low-fat diet and exercise regularly. It shouldn’t effect your weight loss goal too much, since it is only supposed to help you lose an additional three to five pounds.<\/p>\n
