Researchers have found that people who are <a title=\"obesity\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/tag\/obesity\/\" target=\"_self\">obese<\/a> tend to almost <em>never<\/em> move. And by almost never, I mean this: in the study of 10 men and women, they spent an average of 23 hours and 52 minutes sleeping, lying down or sitting each day.<\/p>\n<p>Eight minutes of movement? Really?<\/p>\n<p>Experts recommend that people take at least 10,000 steps a day. Those in the study got on average about 3,700. That doesn&#8217;t seem to mesh with the eight minutes of activity, but okay&#8230;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So what does all this mean? According to Dr. Thomas Vanhecke and his colleagues at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan it could have important implications for lowering <a title=\"heart disease\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/understanding-obesity-related-diseases-heart-disease\/\" target=\"_self\">heart disease<\/a> risk among morbidly obese adults.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These results may provide important links between obesity, poor fitness and cardiovascular disease,&#8221; the researchers report in the journal Clinical Cardiology.<\/p>\n<p>Studies have found that even among obese adults, those with higher fitness levels tend to be healthier.
