If you consume more calories than you burn during the day you\u2019ll have difficulty <a title=\"losing weight\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/\" target=\"_self\">losing weight<\/a> and will likely gain weight.<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Feel metabolism is slowing down<\/strong> \u2014 The older you get the harder it becomes to lose weight. That\u2019s why it is very important to <a title=\"healthy lifestyle\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/03\/incorporate-the-dietary-guidelines-for-americans-into-your-life\/\" target=\"_self\">start a healthy routine<\/a> at an early age and maintain it throughout your life.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Splurge too often on favorite foods<\/strong> \u2014 It\u2019s okay to have you favorite food every once in a while, but it should be a treat happening once every other week or month rather than every other day.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>4.<strong> Lack self-discipline<\/strong> \u2014 Weight loss and maintenance is all about having self-control and being disciplined day-in and day-out. Slipping up on a diet is very likely so don\u2019t beat yourself up, however it&#8217;s important to get back on track the next time you eat rather then the next day.<\/p>\n<p>5.<strong> Snack too often<\/strong> \u2014 If you are not careful and snack too often you can consume hundreds of unneeded calories.\u00a0 Plan ahead, know when you get hungry and plan meals and <a title=\"healthy snacks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/tag\/healthy-snacks\/\" target=\"_self\">healthy snacks<\/a> accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>6.<strong> Overeating at meals<\/strong> \u2014 Listen to your body and take your time while eating. Allow the time your body needs to know it has eaten enough rather then scarfing food down as fast you can without knowing you&#8217;re full, which will often leave you full and miserable.<\/p>\n<p>7.<strong> <a title=\"emotional eating\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diets\/the-emotional-eating-solution\/\" target=\"_self\">Emotional eating<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 It\u2019s important to eat when you&#8217;re hungry, not because you&#8217;re sad, lonely, or happy. Celebration eating should only take place when you are hungry, don\u2019t eat simply because others around you are.<\/p>\n<p>8. <strong>Eat too many high-fat foods<\/strong> \u2014 High fat normally means high in calories, too! When you eat out, have an idea of where you are going and what the healthier options are. Also, remember that eating out and grocery shopping should never take place when you are starving; being starved tends to lead to impulse buying and fatty food selections.<\/p>\n<p>10. <strong>Only watching fat, not calories<\/strong> \u2014 Or vice versa. It\u2019s important to look at the big picture with eating.
