Picky eaters and eating too much junk food round out the top three overall concerns of moms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ADA compiled a short list of easy and practical tips for moms and\/or dads to try out:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Establish a family mealtime time.<\/strong> Try to have at least one meal a day together. This can help increase a child\u2019s intake of healthier foods because kids tend to eat more fruits, vegetables, and dairy at meals shared with their parents.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Get the family involved.<\/strong> Having your <a title=\"lunch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/02\/4-things-to-remember-when-packing-a-lunch\/\" target=\"_self\">children help prepare meals<\/a> will increase the likelihood of them trying different foods (kids are more inclined to try something new if they had a part in making it). This also allows for great social interaction between you and your kids.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lead by example.<\/strong> The old saying of \u201cpractice what you preach\u201d goes hand-in-hand with kids improving their eating habits.\u00a0 Moms and dads often tell their kids to eat healthy, but don\u2019t follow their own\u00a0advice. Remember <a title=\"healthy lifestyle\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/03\/incorporate-the-dietary-guidelines-for-americans-into-your-life\/\" target=\"_self\">healthy eating is a lifestyle<\/a>! The earlier you introduce healthy eating to your children the more likely they\u2019ll continue throughout their life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Try something new.<\/strong> Set a goal to include one new food or recipe each week. You\u2019ll soon discover new favorites to incorporate into family menus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember freshness and quality.<\/strong> Select fresh, quality products when choosing foods for your family. Fresher foods provide higher amounts of essential nutrients and taste better. Buying seasonal fruits and vegetables will help stretch your food dollar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stash healthy snacks.<\/strong> Keep healthy, <a title=\"nutritious snacks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/quick-easy-and-nutritious-springtime-snacks\/\" target=\"_self\">nutritious snacks<\/a> in key places at all times \u2014 your purse, the car, your desk drawer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Face dining-out challenges head-on and be informed.<\/strong> Choose restaurants that allow you to mix and match food options\u00a0to give you control to create a balanced meal for you and your family.
