{"id":78326,"date":"2012-09-03T08:00:44","date_gmt":"2012-09-03T13:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/?p=78326"},"modified":"2012-09-03T10:29:00","modified_gmt":"2012-09-03T15:29:00","slug":"six-reasons-to-start-your-diet-on-labor-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/09\/six-reasons-to-start-your-diet-on-labor-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Reasons to Start Your Diet on Labor Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been writing for Diets In Review for a while, but I just found out recently that<strong> <a title=\"Empty Calories Comic: Labor Day\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/09\/empty-calories-comic-killing-the-labor-day-buzz\/\">Labor Day<\/a><\/strong> is the second biggest diet day of the year; I am assuming following New Years Day.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/dieter.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-78667\" title=\"dieter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/dieter.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/dieter.jpeg 301w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/dieter-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the rush of back to school and getting ready for the holiday season, I did not expect weight loss to be a high priority for many people. As the weather cools off and we look forward to boots and sweaters and layers, I expected fewer people to be concerned with dieting.<\/p>\n<p>While I am slightly surprised to find out that Labor Day is the second biggest diet day of the year, there are reasons why it makes sense.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Healthy Back To School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/08\/healthy-back-to-school-week\/\">Back to school<\/a><\/strong> time, at least for me, brings to mind fresh notebooks and clean slates. If you grew up thinking of each fall as a new beginning, then autumn might be the perfect time for a habit change for you.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While getting the kids ready to head back to school takes quite a bit of energy, for most people it is not quite as exhausting as the holiday rush that leads up to <strong><a title=\"Making New Years Resolutions Manageable\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/making-your-new-years-resolution-manageable\/\">New Year&#8217;s resolutions<\/a><\/strong>. This leaves\u00a0more physical, mental, and emotional energy to invest in the habit change.<\/p>\n<p>Starting a healthier diet plan at Labor Day allows plenty of time to plan for healthier holidays <em>and<\/em> find ways to make seasonal favorites with fewer calories and processed ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>Summer can be an extremely busy season for many people, as things slow down and become more routine in the Fall, it is easier to structure change into your life.<\/p>\n<p>For many, the <strong><a title=\"How To Dress For Winter Running\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/how-to-dress-for-winter-running\/#\">weather<\/a><\/strong> in January can create additional hurdles to maintaining resolutions. However, post-Labor Day forecasts make it easier to get active in more ways and still have enough time to solidify a new habit before weather and holiday events impede on your schedule.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a goal to run a 5k for Halloween or Thanksgiving (the Turkey Trot is extremely popular where I live in Indianapolis), you have plenty of time to complete the <strong><a title=\"C25k app\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/05\/couch-to-5k-program-launches-c25k-iphone-app\/\">Couch to 5K Program<\/a><\/strong> to reach your goal.<\/p>\n<p>All good reasons to embark on a new healthy lifestyle, indeed.
