Just this week an article titled \u201cWhat to Eat Now: The Anti-Food-Snob Diet\u201d was released in Time Magazine. Dr. Oz wrote lengthy reasons as to why frozen and canned foods were just as healthy as organic products. A man\u2019s entitled to his opinion, right? So what\u2019s the big deal? Well, the organic community is up in arms because the good doctor used to be on their side promoting organic food as the safest, most healthy option. And when they say \u201cused to be,\u201d they mean like two months ago. It seems the famous doctor has got some explaining to do.<a title=\"dr. oz time magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/12\/dr-oz-calls-organic-eaters-elite-and-promotes-canned-vegetables\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-82698\" title=\"time magazine food snob\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/time-magazine-food-snob.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/time-magazine-food-snob.jpg 375w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/time-magazine-food-snob-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Time article Dr. Oz says there is very little difference between the produce at the farmers market and the products in the freezer section or canned food aisle.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Oz said, \u201cAfter several years of research and experience, I have come to an encouraging conclusion: the American food supply is abundant, nutritionally sound, affordable and, with a few simple considerations, comparable to the most elite organic diets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many people did not take kindly to being called \u201celite\u201d because they have chosen to heed the advice of many experts and shop organic. Dr. Oz also referred to those who purchase organics as the 1%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSave the cash: the 99% diet can be good for you,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly though, writer and editor of NaturalNews.com, Mike Adams, pulled out one of <strong><a title=\"organic vs. conventional dr. oz\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/10\/doctor-oz-chimes-in-on-the-organic-vs-conventional-produce-debate\/\">Dr. Oz\u2019s quotes from just two months ago<\/a><\/strong>. In October 2026, Dr. Oz stated, &#8220;so you&#8217;re being told organic food is no more nutritious than conventional and it&#8217;s not worth your extra money. Well I&#8217;m here to say that it is worth the investment. Why do I say that? Pesticides.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In October, organics were \u201cworth the investment.&#8221; In December they\u2019re not? What\u2019s the deal?<\/p>\n<p>Mike Adams also posed some questions for Dr. Oz on Drudge.com. Here\u2019s one of the unanswered questions for Dr. Oz regarding his statements this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour article seems to contradict much of what you&#8217;ve said over the years about organics. The obvious question is: Were you paid by a P.R. firm to put your name on this article which was largely ghostwritten by them? Or did you come up with the entire article all by yourself? Your article also mirrors the words of TIME Magazine editor Rick Stengel who recently argued on national TV that canned food is nutritionally identical to organic food (much to the laughter of everybody with an IQ above room temperature).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Things are definitely amiss, that\u2019s for sure. There\u2019s no denying that there is nutritional value in frozen foods, and even canned goods. Some are better than others as some products are mixed with salts or sugars, but one can eat healthily with these products. But, are they the same as fresh, locally grown, pesticide-free, organic produce? No way. They are simply different products. And for years we\u2019ve been told by people like Dr. Oz to opt for the organic options as they are the best we could buy for ourselves and our families. Has something changed? Doubtfully.<\/p>\n<p>Research has pegged conventional foods with <strong><a title=\"Pesticides and ADHD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/05\/pesticides-in-foods-linked-to-add\/\">links between pesticides and ADHD<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a title=\"Early Puberty\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/08\/early-puberty-poses-health-risks-for-young-girls\/\">early-onset puberty<\/a><\/strong>, and even <strong><a title=\"Arsenic in Rice\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/09\/concerning-levels-of-arsenic-found-in-rice-fda-conducting-full-investigation\/\">arsenic-laced rice<\/a><\/strong>. You can also look at that fact that <strong><a title=\"carrot nutrition\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/06\/a-carrot-had-more-nutrients-50-years-ago-than-it-does-today\/\">50 years ago a carrot had more nutrition than it does today<\/a><\/strong>. And plenty of research exists showing that <strong><a title=\"organic more nutritious\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/09\/science-sides-with-organics\/\">organic fruit is more nutritious than conventional<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Once again. It seems good \u2018ol Dr. Oz has fallen deeper into the pit of stardom. No longer a revolutionary doctor who makes learning easy and health inspiring.
