New Jersey governor Chris Christie pulled a donut out of his back pocket and started eating it during a CBS\u00a0Late Show<\/em> appearance, and told David Letterman, “I’m basically the healthiest fat guy you’ve ever seen in your life.” As he tossed back roughly 260 calories and 12 grams of fat, he made jokes about a doctor who recently called him out for his weight.<\/p>\n

Connie Mariano, a retired Navy rear admiral and former White House doctor, expressed herself as a Christie fan and is all for him running for a higher office but thinks he’s in desperate need of losing weight. “I’m a physician more than I’m a Democrat or Republican. And I’m worried about this man dying in office,” she said during an interview with CNN.<\/p>\n

Christie was a bit annoyed with this comment to say the least. “I find it\u00a0fascinating that a doctor in Arizona who’s never met me, never examined me, never reviewed my history or medical records and knows nothing about my family history could make a diagnosis from 2,400 miles away,” he defended in a press conference on Wednesday. “She should shut up.”<\/p>\n

Christie continued in the conference with a story about how his 12-year-old son asked him recently if his father was going to die. “I mean c’mon. This is irresponsible stuff,” said the governor.<\/p>\n

The former Republican doctor for Bill Clinton defended herself during her CNN interview by saying, “It doesn’t take a physician to look at him and observe that he’s overweight.”<\/p>\n

Christie claimed to Letterman that his cholesterol<\/a><\/strong> and blood sugar levels<\/a><\/strong> are “normal”. But what exactly is his or his doctor’s interpretation of “normal”?<\/p>\n

I respect #ChrisChristie<\/a> but he is obese. Deal with it. Instead of lashing out at the doc, who has her own issues, be an example, lose wt.<\/p>\n
