But I also concoct <strong><a title=\"healthy snack ideas\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/healthy-snacks\/\">more offbeat snacks<\/a><\/strong> that I don&#8217;t tend to recommend because they might seem too weird or too <strong><a title=\"healthy food bloggers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/food-bloggers\">health-foody<\/a><\/strong> to someone just coming off a potato-chips-and-snack-cake habit. I figure you DietsInReview.com readers have seen it all\u2026and might even enjoy some of these yourselves.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-86495\" title=\"numi tea\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/numi-tea.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/numi-tea.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/numi-tea-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Numi Organic Savory tea<\/strong> (5 calories; available at Whole Foods)<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition highlight: the Broccoli Cilantro has 90 percent of the Daily Value for calcium and the Beet Cabbage has 20 percent (I haven\u2019t tried the four other flavors yet)<\/p>\n<p>How to: Steep teabags in boiling water for 10 minutes.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Greek yogurt with olive oil and whole-wheat pita<\/strong> (186 calories)<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition highlight: 150 mg of calcium (15 percent the Daily Value)<\/p>\n<p>How to: Spread \u00bd cup of 0% fat Greek yogurt on a small plate. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and sprinkle with a little <strong><a title=\"benefits of spices\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/05\/cook-yourself-healthy-with-4-nutritious-spices\/\">dried oregano<\/a><\/strong>. Use warm whole-wheat pita (with 70 to 75 calories) to dip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lemon parsley mashed chickpeas<\/strong> (162 calories)<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition highlight: 5 grams of fiber (20 percent of your daily requirement)<\/p>\n<p>How to: With a fork, roughly mash \u00bd cup of canned and drained reduced-sodium or no-salt-added chickpeas (garbanzo beans) with 1 teaspoon of olive oil, \u00bd teaspoon of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley (or other herb of your choice).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chocolate peanut butter crackers<\/strong> (191 calories)<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition highlight: Compounds in both peanuts (l-arginine, an amino acid) and dark chocolate (polyphenols) lower blood pressure<\/p>\n<p>How to: Spread a 100-percent whole-grain cracker or crispbread (with 40 to 50 calories) with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter.
