Research revealed only one in five U.S. adults is meeting the requirements for both aerobic and <strong><a title=\"strength training\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/strength-training\">muscle-strengthening components<\/a><\/strong> of the physical activity guideline issued by the federal government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Research was based on a phone survey of adults aged 18 and older issued by state health departments.<!--more--><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Current recommendations in the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans suggest adults should be engaging in muscle-strengthening activities, such as sit-ups, push-ups, or activities involving resistance bands or weights. Adults should also be getting at least two and a half hours of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as <strong><a title=\"walking\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/walking\">walking<\/a><\/strong>, <em>or<\/em> one hour, 15 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, such as jogging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>One bit of good news was that nearly 50 percent of Americans are currently getting the recommended amount of aerobic activity, and one-third are getting the recommended amount of muscle-strengthening activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The CDC believes this is a &#8220;great foundation to build on,&#8221; but there is still much work to be done.
