If so, you\u2019ve developed a caffeine tolerance. That basically means that caffeine has lost its edge\u2014instead of giving you an extra boost of energy, it simply brings you to the level where you\u2019d be without caffeine. My caffeine conclusion: I<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebestlife.com\/4-energy-boosting-sipping-strategies\/\" target=\"_blank\">have more energy<\/a><\/strong> overall without it.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"woman drinking coffee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/06\/take-the-decaf-challenge-and-enjoy-more-health-benefits-from-coffee\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-89115\" alt=\"coffee\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/coffee.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/coffee.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/coffee-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t just my own personal observation\u2014research backs me up. Caffeine (coffee, tea, or caffeine pills) may offer an immediate spike in mood and alertness, but it doesn\u2019t last. In fact, caffeine could make you feel little more tired and moody later in the day, according to research at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But what about all the <strong><a title=\"coffee benefits\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/06\/new-health-benefits-of-coffee\/\">health benefits of coffee<\/a><\/strong> and tea? Indeed, there are many, such as a reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and even Parkinson\u2019s disease. But emerging research indicates that it has compounds other than caffeine that are protective. For instance, an Australian review found that decaf was just as effective as regular coffee; for each cup consumed, the risk for type 2 diabetes falls seven percent. Three to four cups of either type of coffee cut the risk by a third.<\/p>\n<p>It could even be that coffee and tea are beneficial to your health despite the caffeine. For instance, while regular coffee causes a temporary spike in blood pressure, a study from researchers at the University of Palermo in Italy found that decaf espresso actually relaxed arteries, bringing down blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>My challenge to you: Try going decaf.<\/p>\n<p>You caffeine fiends are probably just about ready to click off this page, but wait! Hear me out: If you wean yourself off of caffeine slowly, you\u2019ll avoid headaches and irritability. Start by drinking \u00be caffeinated and \u00bc decaf for a few days, easing down to half\/half, and so on. When you\u2019re truly caffeine-free and have no lingering withdrawal symptoms, give yourself a week or two of drinking only decaffeinated coffee and tea (and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebestlife.com\/our-healthy-must-have-of-the-week-a-spicy-nighttime-ritual\/\" target=\"_blank\">herbal tea<\/a><\/strong>) to see how you feel.
