This is not your Nana&#8217;s online cook book, unless she likes eye candy in the blog header and cookies nick-named Unicorn Farts. If so, your Nana rocks!<\/p>\n<p>We asked Pamela to tell us more about her tasty, unique site:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why did you start your food blog?<\/strong>\u00a0I had been working as an internet consultant for a few years and when the economy took a hit in &#8217;08-&#8217;09 I found myself clientless. Since I&#8217;ve always enjoyed cooking, and I was doing it pretty much everyday, I thought I&#8217;d start up a food blog. It was a way to help fill my days and gain some new internet skills at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>How would you describe your approach to eating\/health?\u00a0<\/strong>I try to do things in moderation (which is what I tell myself on the days I skip the gym). I didn&#8217;t have a healthy relationship with food until well into my adulthood, so I really take things day by day. Food blogging has allowed\/forced me to try vegetables that I previously wouldn&#8217;t touch with a 10 foot pole. By using different cooking methods and ingredients with them, I have found that I actually DO like to eat things like brussels sprouts and cabbage. But I still detest cooked spinach &#8211; it&#8217;s a texture thing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have you always had an interest in healthy food or did it come later in life?\u00a0<\/strong>I&#8217;ve always been drawn to healthier foods. My parents had a huge garden when I was growing up, so vegetables were always a big part of our meals. Not that I liked eating them all though (see above). Let&#8217;s just say that my mother had a way of turning some vegetables into gray piles of slimy mush.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your favorite food\/ingredient to use in the kitchen?\u00a0<\/strong>I render my own lard to use in pie crusts, just like grandma and mom did. I also have to have kosher salt around. Fresh vegetables &#8211; if I&#8217;ve got fresh veggies around, I can make just about anything.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Has blogging changed the way you view food and cooking?<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Blogging has allowed me to experience, and introduce to my readers to, lots of new seasonings and ingredients that I otherwise might never have even seen. I&#8217;ve learned how to achieve lots of different flavors in my cooking by using some rather simple, and easy to find, things like dried peppers and spices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Favorite recipe to date?\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mymansbelly.com\/2011\/07\/06\/chicken-and-waffles-ice-cream-for-ice-cream-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chicken and Waffles Ice Cream<\/a><\/strong>. It&#8217;s salty, spicy, sweet and somewhat <em>chicken-y<\/em> all at the same time.
