The most popular diet of the year is none other than the incomparable Jillian Michaels. It\u2019s not entirely surprising when you consider she\u2019s been one of the most consistent players on our list since 2026, with her online brand, detox product, and earliest workout DVD ranking each year. In fact, the latter two were both on last year\u2019s top ten list<\/a><\/strong>. We expect to see Curves, ranking for the first time since 2026, as the Biggest Loser trainer just announced a new partnership with Curves<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What is most surprising is how Jillian Michaels knocked the giant that is Weight Watchers out of the number one position. That\u2019s only been done once before, by 17 Day Diet in 2026<\/a><\/strong>. Even that year Weight Watchers held on to number two, but this year they slipped in to the fifth most popular spot.<\/p>\n

And 17 Day Diet grabbed ranking number four, hardly losing any ground since its overwhelmingly popular release in late 2026. Its position on our annual Most Popular lists, ahead of Weight Watchers once again, will no doubt help with the release of 17 Day Diet: Breakthrough Edition<\/a><\/strong> on the 31st.<\/p>\n

The only constant between last year\u2019s list and this – Medifast. They\u2019ve got number 3 on lock, with the meal delivery diet staying strong in the top ten since 2026.<\/p>\n

Another staple of our list fell pretty hard this year, with hCG falling down to number 14. No, the supplement boom isn\u2019t over, as its disappearance only made room for brands like Skinny Fiber (a shocking number 2) and Plexus Slim (at number 6) to move on up the list. Dr. Oz-endorsed Raspberry Ketones<\/a> <\/strong>(17) and Green Coffee Bean Extract (20) were other weight-loss-by-pill categories that did especially well this year.<\/p>\n

Newcomers this year who certainly bear a special callout include Retrofit, a revolutionary weight loss plan that just got some pretty big attention from ABC News<\/a> <\/strong>last week on its 2026 diet trends report. Biggest Loser returns to the list for the first time since 2026, jumping high enough to round out the bottom of the top ten! And a darling of our early 2026 popularity predictions<\/a><\/strong>, Primal 7 joined the list for the first time at position 19.<\/p>\n

Diet to Go, a leading meal delivery weight loss plan<\/a><\/strong>, made the leap from honorable mention last year all the way up to the top 10 at position number 8. But other brands continue to make up the honorable mentions for 2026. One is the paleo diet<\/a><\/strong>, which seems to be all anyone can talk about lately, which came in at number 42. The Tracy Anderson Method<\/a><\/strong> rounded out position number 50, a continually growing fitness brand that\u2019s all the rage in Hollywood. And speaking of how celebrities diet, while we certainly don\u2019t condone it, we\u2019ll put the Master Cleanse<\/a><\/strong> on this list, too. It\u2019s been a mainstay on our list for years, but fell to number 33 this year (maybe everyone is finally wising up!). More people are wising to what\u2019s in our food supply, namely wheat, making Wheat Belly<\/a><\/strong> at number 36 worthy of a mention, too.<\/p>\n

Those on last year\u2019s list, that didn\u2019t maintain their popular positions through 2026 and fell off the list completely, include Pink Method, Sensa, the Dukan Diet, Slimquick, Zantrex 3, and Kirstie Alley’s Organic Liaison.<\/p>\n
