WRONG!<\/p>\n<p>Although it has become some what easier for me than when I first started on this journey, there are still times that I fall prey to the desires of wanting to eat mindlessly. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/04\/5-strategies-for-beating-mindless-eating\/\"><b>Eat mindlessly<\/b><\/a>. HA! Who am i kidding? Pigging out is really what I want to do sometimes.)<\/p>\n<p>Just last weekend, my fiancee and I went out to meet some friends for brunch. \u00a0That morning I had gone to the gym and done an intense work out. Shortly after I arrived home and showered we left for our Sunday brunch. \u00a0I was STARVING, yet I didn&#8217;t eat anything post work out because I reasoned that I was going to have a nice meal at brunch. BIG MISTAKE! \u00a0Before we even got to the restaurant, my stomach was growling and I was about to chew my fiancee&#8217;s arm off! (Ok, I&#8217;m exaggerating. I was just going to nibble on her ear!)<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage-->Since my weight loss\/healthier lifestyle began 5 years ago, I very rarely partake in bread or appetizers, but this day everything that I know and teach went out the window. \u00a0I ate the bread, had a bit of everyone&#8217;s appetizers, and eventually had my entire entree.<\/p>\n<p>Folks, the above is what NOT to do. \u00a0Here are a few tips to help you avoid a similar eating frenzy when going out to eat:<\/p>\n<p><b>1) Eat a little <i>something<\/i> before heading out.<\/b> \u00a0You may not be hungry right then and there, but remember it takes time to get to your destination, to get seated, ordering and getting served. Eating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/10\/boiled-peanuts-a-healthy-snack\/\"><b>a little something<\/b><\/a><b> <\/b>beforehand will prevent that ravishing feeling.<\/p>\n<p><b>2) Drink at least one full glass of water before ordering your food.<\/b> \u00a0Many times, our minds confuse thirst for hunger. And when we are hungry, we order more than we really should or even need.<\/p>\n<p><b>3) If you <i>must<\/i> have some of the bread basket, eat only the crust.<\/b> \u00a0This will save you some calories and A LOT of carbs while still allowing you to enjoy some bread.<\/p>\n<p><b>4) Ask your server to bring you a &#8220;to-go&#8221; box and a bag.<\/b> \u00a0This way you can pack half of your meal to go. \u00a0Most restaurants nowadays have servings that are enough for an entire family. \u00a0You will see that by not having an entire serving staring you down, you will feel satisfied with just half.
