Maybe sunblock, but you can&#8217;t, and really shouldn&#8217;t, drink that. That hot pink melon just screams hot, summer days! Get as much as you can because it&#8217;s so hydrating; I don&#8217;t care who you are, that juice is going to run down your chin and arms!<\/p>\n<p>Watermelon is as much a staple in our house in these warm months as is a good cocktail. I love nothing more than to gather friends on our patio and share a delish homemade cocktail. After our first round of watermelon mojitos, I&#8217;ve declared these the official drink of summer 2026!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"watermelon mojito\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/06\/juicy-watermelon-jalapeno-twist-mojitos-are-the-official-cocktail-of-summer\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-98513\" alt=\"watermelon mojito\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/watermelon-mojito.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/watermelon-mojito.jpg 400w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/watermelon-mojito-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first sip garnered oohs, ahhs, and even a &#8220;oh that&#8217;s the stuff!&#8221; The muddling gives you a solid upper arm workout while the <strong><a title=\"jalapeno metabolism\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/05\/put-some-spice-in-your-cinco-de-mayo-with-capsaicin\/\">jalapeno is hot enough to keep your metabolism on its toes<\/a><\/strong>. We just put the watermelon and the mint leaves in a large pitcher and use a wooden spoon to do the labor intensive part of this cocktail (i.e. the workout!). Do this until the melon is as chunky or juicy as you like. These blends more fluidly and prevents having bits of sugar that haven&#8217;t dissolved. I like to make mine with <strong><a title=\"what is raw turbinado sugar\" href=\"%20%20%20%20https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/07\/drink-up-these-fizzy-jalapeno-cherry-limeades-are-a-hot-twist-on-a-cool-classic\/\">raw turbinado sugar<\/a><\/strong>, less processed than white sugar and about 50 less calories. You can also make this with honey if you like.<\/p>\n<p>Limes are that other unequivocal flavor of summer. Put them in or on anything and I swear it instantly tastes like June by a pool. You&#8217;ll want to juice at least one of these guys for the mojitos. Save at least one slice to rim the mojito glasses for salting (or sugaring if you prefer).<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"rimming a glass mojito\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/06\/juicy-watermelon-jalapeno-twist-mojitos-are-the-official-cocktail-of-summer\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-98517\" alt=\"salt rim glass\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/salt-rim-glass.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/salt-rim-glass.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dietsinreview.com\/diet_column\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/salt-rim-glass-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To salt our mojitos, we used Naked Sea&#8217;s Ruby Wine salt. Not only has this sea salt soaked in merlot, adding a fantastic flavor twist to our mojito, but the salts themselves are responsibly sourced from the Dead Sea. A little pouch is available for just three bucks at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abesmarket.com\/natural-products\/food-and-drink\/condiments-sauces-spreads\/natural-organic-spices-and-seasonings\/naked-sea-rubywine-mini-bag-velvet-plum-merlot-0-75-oz.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Abe&#8217;s Market<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The final touch, where this mojito really shows its colors, is with a jalapeno. You don&#8217;t <em>have <\/em>to, but it really is what takes this from <em>just another cocktail <\/em>to <em>THE official cocktail of summer. <\/em><em><\/em>Just one small slice, muddled around in your glass, gives an unexpected bite to this otherwise sweet and juicy beverage. Add watermelon and mint to a pitcher and use a wooden spoon to muddle together, releasing as much juice and breaking down the fruit as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p>2. Make the simple syrup, set aside. Juice the lime, set aside.<\/p>\n<p>3. Add the rum, syrup, club soda, and lime juice to the pitcher. Mix well.<\/p>\n<p>4. Rim the glasses in lime juice and salt or sugar. Fill with ice, then pour in the mojito.<\/p>\n<p>5.
