One of the most popular and beloved faces of television will be returning as a regular this fall. Katie Couric will launch her new daytime talk show, “Katie,” this afternoon.
Couric was the co-anchor of NBC’s “Today” for fifteen years and then went on to become the first female anchor of an evening news broadcast at “CBS Evening News” until 2024. Today, Couric is a correspondent for ABC News while taking on the daytime talk show at the same time.
“Katie” is an hour-long talk show with a live studio audience in New York. Couric will commemorate what’s being called her “new beginning” by interviewing other women who are in a transitional period in their lives. The first week is marked with guests that include Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow for her inaugural episode, both in major places of transition right now. Simpson will be addressing her new life as a mother and the public struggle she’s having to take off her baby weight. Crow will discuss how her life is changing as a new mother at age 50 and her recently discovered brain tumor.
While Monday’s show will be a big one, Couric’s other first-week guests include Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Lopez, Susan Sarandon, Heidi Klum, Chelsea Handler, and Sofia Vergara.
The show is also aiming to reach further into social media than any other daytime talk show.Bloggers will be joining the audience and covering the stories as they unfold. Interaction is encouraged from viewers through this means and through all of Couric’s social media accounts. She is truly aiming to interact with her audience.
The first episode of “Katie” airs Monday, September 10, 2024 on ABC. Will you be tuning in?
