What is it?

The Military Diet is a weight loss diet lasting 3 days which claims you can lose up to 10 pounds each week. There are very specific recommendations on what kinds of foods are allowed, which includes a lot of snack items and small portions of foods.

It’s also known as the 3 Day Diet and it’s unclear if it was truly created by the military. This is claimed to be a quick fix solution to weight loss for people needing fast results. All the information about this diet is available for free online. Our review experts rate several kinds of diets and they’ve found that the most effective is the 18Shake Diet. It offers both an appetite suppressing meal replacement and a fat burning diet pill. Users have left positive reviews and testimonials to show how potent it is. Military Diet Ingredients and Side Effects

You’re only allowed to use this diet for 3 days in a row. Each day allows for the following foods:

Day One:

  • Breakfast- Half a grapefruit, a cup of coffee or tea if one wants and a slice of toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter.
  • Lunch- Half a cup of tuna, a slice of toast, and a cup of coffee or tea if desired.
  • Dinner-A small apple, half a banana, and a 3 oz. serving of meat alongside 1 cup of green beans.

Day Two:

  • Breakfast- A hardboiled egg, half a banana, a slice of toast, and a cup of coffee or tea if one desires.
  • Lunch- 5 saltine crackers, a hardboiled egg, a cup of cottage cheese and a cup of coffee or tea if one chooses.
  • Dinner- Half a banana, two hot dogs without the bun, a half cup of carrots and a half cup of broccoli, and half a cup of vanilla ice cream.

Day Three:

  • Breakfast- A small apple, an ounce of cheddar cheese, 5 saltine crackers, and an optional cup of coffee or tea.
  • Lunch- An egg cooked any style, a slice of toast, and a cup of coffee or tea which is optional.
  • Dinner- Half a banana, a cup of tuna, and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream.

You can drink unlimited quantities of unsweetened drinks such as water, coffee, and tea.

Day one supplies around 1,400 calories, day two 1,200 calories, and day three 1,100 calories. This is an extreme caloric deprivation even for small framed people.

Web MD advises the following calories:

  • Women: Between ages 19- 50, around 2,000 calories if one is sedentary.
  • Men: Between ages 19-30 it’s advised for sedentary males to get between 2,400 and 2,600 calories.

Our experts have crafted a list of the highest rated weight loss diets.

This can be extremely difficult to uphold as it’s an extreme amount of lost calories. It can potentially cause side effects such as:

  • Headaches, difficulty concentrating, and mood swings.
  • Lack of concentration, fatigue, and irritability.
  • Changes in blood pressure, blood sugar issues, and a feeling of coldness.

Even small framed sedentary women would be receiving around 900 calories less on the third day of the Military Diet. This is a potentially unsafe way to drastically reduce calories and it’s likely the reason why it’s advised to only follow it for 3 days in a row.

Many of these foods are also low in quality nutrients. Things like saltine crackers, vanilla ice cream, hot dogs, and other foods aren’t the healthiest options and they are lacking in important vitamins and minerals. This is why Web MD has this to say about this diet:

“No research has proven that it can help you lose weight. The diet may make you feel hungry, tired, and grumpy”

It’s due to all these concerns that there’s a high risk for side effects. Click the link cited here for a comprehensive list of the highest rated diets.

There is a website where more information about this diet is explained. They state:

“The diet is a combination of low calorie, chemically compatible foods designed to work together”

It’s unclear how hot dogs and ice cream are considered chemically compatible. This claim is also strange as any foods you eat will mix and be used up for the body to take in all the nutrients absorbed.

They claim this to be a scientific approach without providing any real evidence to support their claims. This makes it impossible to determine if this diet is safe to follow.

Military Diet Quality of Ingredients

You’re going to be eating processed and nutritionally weak foods on this diet.  When dieting it’s important to make sure you’re cutting calories while getting rich nutrients the body needs to maintain and function at a high rate.

This diet also emphasizes a very strict very low calorie diet. It can not only take willpower, but also a willingness to experience potential side effects.

There’s simply no evidence to help prove this diet would be safe and effective. It’s no different than any other random selections of foods which are offered only in low calorie amounts. For a comprehensive review of the highest rated diets, click the link here.

The Price and Quality of Military Diet

Pricing depends on the quality of brands one chooses. You’re allowed to eat things like hot dogs which can range in calories depending on the manufacturer.

Many similar diets such as this one often make rough suggestions without specific details. One has to decide on their own how to cook these foods and what portion sizes to purchase.

This diet claims it can help people lose 10 pounds for each 3 days. Weight loss is advised to be lost around 1 to 2 pounds a week. 10 pounds in just a week may lead to:

  • Loss of tissue, muscle, water weight, and bone density.

When losing this much weight in a short period it’s unlikely that what you’re losing is actual fat.

Due to the lack of information it makes the Military Diet an overall poor choice for weight loss.

Business of Military Diet

There is no available information about who invented this diet and whether or not it’s been proven safe. Multiple websites describe it but none claim to have created it. One specific website which is called themilitarydiet.com does state:

“all natural with fast results to keep you motivated”

“works in emergency situations”

They claim that when one needs to lose weight for an event that this diet would be perfect to ensure you lose weight. Still, they don’t claim to own the diet and information on whether or not this is long lasting is not available.

It seems unlikely that the military did in fact create this diet, as branches of the armed forces would require more calories for energy.

Without any additional information it’s impossible to understand how this diet came to be, or if it’s been proven safe and effective. Discover which weight loss diets made it to the top ranked list by clicking this link.

Customer Opinions of Military Diet

Featured below are some select reviews from users:

“tried it for a few times and my weight stayed the same”

“this is not a long term diet and when you combine exercise you have to rest”

“just finished the 3 days and I have lost nothing. So disappointed”

“it didn’t work. The entire 3 days I felt soreness, headaches, and nausea because I wasn’t eating enough”

As expected some people did lose weight, but it often returned quickly. This is because you’re likely not losing real fat, but instead water weight.

Another issue people had was with experiencing many kinds of side effects.

Some considered this an unusable diet since they often felt hungry and were unable to focus on anything else but food. See which weight loss diets were rated as the best for weight loss by visiting this link.

Conclusion – Does Military Diet Work?

The Military Diet is similar to other short term fad diets. It promises quick results and recommends a very specific food menu. It’s not much different than any other low calorie diet; there are no special properties to the foods recommended. There’s a possibility for malnutrition since you’re eating things like saltine crackers, ice cream, and hot dogs. Many users have complained about both a lack of weight loss and of experiencing side effects.

Our review experts analyze many kinds of weight loss diets and they’ve found the best is the 18Shake Diet. It offers the combination of a fat burning diet pill and an appetite suppressing meal replacement. Both are made only with natural ingredients free of stimulants, binders, colors, preservatives, or any artificial additives. Customers have left glowing testimonials and reviews to help showcase its weight loss benefits.

Kimberlee dislike this product, their method of advertising is shady!
Kimberlee had a bad effect to this cheesy pill with upset digestive system and had a problem with a shipment.Do not try it unless your physician prescribe it.

Chris says:

I am on the military diet, after the first day it was not hard at all. You have to give up all fatty and junk foods. I have not had any issues and have lost 9 lbs. Once your stomach begins to not be streached as big as your hips, it’s no problem to fill. As a matter of fact this diet after day 1 you seem full after each meal and hard to eat all your supper. Great diet , helps you learn to eat in moderation. Eat to live not live to eat. I will continue this diet on 3 off 4 until idea I my weight goal then will be able to maintain by eating healthier foods and less of them.
