On DietsInReview.com, we have conducted numerous reviews on health food and diet products, including the expanding market of energy or nutrition bars.
And since we are always looking for smart, on-the-go and whole-foods snacks to keep us on track of our nutrition goals, we love reviewing products that are packed with healthy ingredients and taste great.
So when Pure Bar sent us a few samples of their all organic, raw, natural and fruit and nut bars, we got busy tasting.
Pure Bar prides itself on being a step above most nutrition bars because unlike many bars, which contain a laundry-list of hard-to-pronounce ingredients, artificial additives and refined sugars, Pure Bar contains only a handful of 100 percent natural and organic ingredients like organic dates, organic cherries, raw almonds, organic agave nectar, raw walnuts and organic cocoa.
With no refined sugars, no GMOs, no artifical anything, these whole-foods bars taste decadent, nutritious and well quite simply, they taste pure.
While maker of the Pure Bar, Veronica Bosgraaf, created the snack for vegetarians, the nutrition bars are also raw, meaning they are cold-processed to protect the quality of vital antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Pure Bar is also certified gluten-free and the company is an active partner with the Celiac Disease Foundation.
There are six flavors of the Pure Bar: Chocolate Brownie, Apple Cinnamon, Cherry Cashew, Cranberry Orange, Trail Mix and Wild Blueberry. All six flavors were moist, naturally-sweet and the crunch of the natural nuts provided just the right amount of texture against the chewy fruits.
We loved them all as they all tasted exactly like their names described. The Cherry Cashew was sweet, tart and buttery, the Apple Cinnamon was just like eating a slice of apple pie (but without the saturated fat) and the Chocolate Brownie tasted more indulgent than a chewy, rich and oh-so-chocolatey brownie. But unlike most desserts, Pure Bars are snacks you can feel good about eating. The proof is on the label and on your tastebuds.
Each bar contains 190 to 200 calories, eight to nine grams of fat, four grams of fiber, five grams of protein, and an array of essential vitamins and minerals. In addition, one bar is the equivalent of one and a half servings of fruit.
The Pure Bar can be found at Trader Joe’s locations around the country.
