The Fun Bus is a kid’s fitness center on wheels with the philosophy to “enhance learning going on inside the classroom and home, using hands-on approach to fitness and making it fun.” These bright green school buses have all had the seats removed and in their place are padded walls and carpets along with colorful mats, swings, tunnels and even ladders.
The Fun Bus exists to give kids from 18 months to seven years old a fun and active experience. The focus on health and fitness is one the company feels is extremely important as studies have shown that staying fit can help improve a child’s self-esteem and decrease their risk of serious illnesses.
The Fun Bus can be used for birthday parties, school events and lesson plans for teachers. Teaching colors, shapes, and numbers all provide a focus on gross motor skills for children and provide a unique learning environment for kids.
Started in 2001, Fun Bus was an offshoot of a daycare center, where the two founders decided to create a mobile version of the business, which became the mobile gymnasium now known as the Fun Bus. The company has sold franchises in 11 states, which include Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. The Fun Bus offers free demonstrations and open houses to schools to familiarize teachers, parents and children about the fun and fitness benefits.
With the continuation of an obesity epidemic in our country with nearly 1/3 of all children being overweight or obesity, the Fun Bus is a great way to get kids active in a fun and engaging way. And what kid doesn’t love ending a fun day on the bus by sliding out of the bus from the back emergency exit door?
