3 Ways to Keep America Beautiful, Healthy, and Vibrant

More than 200 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence we still celebrate with parades on Main Street and decorate with the red, white, and blue. From hot dogs and potato salad to roasted marshmallows around the campfire, Americans do not take the Fourth lightly. As dusk appears, the boom of fireworks and the dazzling spectacle of illuminated ash will light up the faces of generations of people who are proud to call America their home.

With current fire dangers in parts of the southwest, incidences of obesity on the rise, and an environment that desperately needs tender loving care, it might be of interest to those who truly love America to evolve their celebratory behaviors.

We’ve got just a few suggestions to help keep America the beautiful, healthy and vibrant country that we all love so dearly.

Change a recipe

You certainly don’t have to opt out of the American tradition to celebrate a holiday via food, just be aware of the ingredients you are using to make your special dish. Several of your favorite Fourth of July treats can be altered to support a healthy diet and keep you fit and trim.

Say goodbye to Styrofoam

Styrofoam is non-biodegradable. In other words, it will not decompose in a landfill any time soon. Stop using Styrofoam cups, plates, and to-go boxes at your picnic and instead try an alternative like recycled paper plates or flatware that is made out of cornstarch. Think of the future of America and do what you can to preserve its natural beauty.

Make your own fireworks

No, not literally! Several towns in the southwest portion of the country have banned fireworks this year due to the potential for life-threatening wildfires. While some feel that the Fourth of July just isn’t the same without fireworks, others will choose to find a fun alternative. Perhaps it’s time to rekindle the romantic fire you once had with your spouse or partner. If you ask me, fireworks in the bedroom are the best kind to make (and not just for the Fourth of July!).
