Michelle Obama made it trendy to create a garden as part of her new initiative, Let’s Move!, to stamp out childhood obesity and diabetes. The first lady planted a garden on the South Lawn of the White House last March, working with a group of fifth graders from Bancroft Elementary School. Her goal was to educate children about nutrition.

Now actress Jennie Garth, best known for her role in Beverly Hills 90210, has emulated Mrs. Obama by turning part of her yard into a vegetable garden. She wants her daughters to learn all about the benefits of eating organic produce. Garth, who grew up on a farm, says that she misses being able to hand pick her fruits and vegetables and adds that, since her children love to get their hands dirty, the garden is sure to be successful.
