So a new season of The Biggest Loser… season nine seems to truly be the largest group yet! We meet the contestants who have all weighed in at home in front of their families, friends, neighbors, communities, and complete strangers! There are five contestants weighing in at more than 400 pounds, and one contestant weighing in at 526 pounds, Michael Ventrella.
As each contestant tells us about themselves, you hear similar stories to previous seasons. The most common story being that it’s hard being overweight, not having a significant other, and just wanting love and happiness.
Time for the first challenge. The contestants haven’t even been in the house yet, met the trainers, or had their first workout when they stumble upon Alison Sweeney. She tells them that each team has to ride a combined 26.2 miles on a stationary bike, the distance of a marathon. The two teams that come in last will be immediately sent home. Miggy and Migdaila from the green team win, giving them immunity.
Unfortunately for the blue team and the yellow team, they have to take their already packed bags and head home. But then there’s a twist! Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper tell each team that in 30 days they will return to face off. The team that loses a higher percentage of weight loss will be back in the competition!
Last chance workout is brutal but always well worth it! You see the players give everything they have in order to beat the scale at their first weigh-in. The weigh-in begins and we see amazing numbers, ranging from the teens, 20s, even 34 pounds! Absolutely unbelievable. Unfortunately the brown team falls below the yellow line. Each tries to give up their space for the other, but in the end James is voted off in hopes that he can heal his injured knee at home, and let twin brother John continue competing to win at the ranch.
