Some of us are excited for the Seahawks to play the Patriots, some of us are excited for the commercials, and some of us are just excited for a free Katy Perry concert! That’s right, Miss California Gurl is performing the half-time show this year, and much anticipation surrounds this headliner. There have been lots of rumors surrounding Perry lately, and here we discuss what we might expect to see at the show — and of course, how she has kept in shape for the big game.
Perry’s half-time body
Perry has tweeted quite a few hilarious pictures of herself lately, though none accurately depict her true form. She and footballer J.J. Watt graced the cover of ESPN Magazine. Perry is looking stunning for her big gig, and it has been reported that she has been on the 5-Factor Diet to stay in top-notch shape for the big game. The 5-Factor Diet is a lifestyle that focuses on small meals and all of the food groups. Seems like Perry has been munching on a classic diet of veggies, whole-grains, and protein, as well as 25 minutes of exercise a day. Perry looks perfect and we are sure her performance will blow us all away.

Perry and the USDA
Everyone knows that Super Bowl Sunday is one of the unhealthiest food days of the year — the second largest eating day in the U.S. calendar! The Agriculture Department wants to curb that day of overeating and eating unhealthy, and they are using Perry to do so. The USDA recently posted a blog entitled “Hot N’ Cold: A Katy Perry Guide For Food Safe Take-Out” in which they use the superstar’s song lyrics to remind people to eat healthy. The “Hot N’ Cold” title refers to the reminder of how to handle hot and cold foods in an attempt to avoid food poisoning. Smart and clever, USDA!
Feminist is the word
Something Perry is proud of, and she thinks is necessary, is her female empowerment image. Perry told Billboard Magazine that her female empowerment is a good boost for the NFL, after a year of plenty of image problems in the league. “Hopefully, I can bring that incredible strength and empowerment to people through the performance.” It is no secret that the NFL has had a less-than-attractive year, most notably the Ray Rice assault. Perry hopes that her feminist tunes will help educate and change the image that the NFL may currently have.
Perry vs. Taylor Swift?
It is no big secret that Perry and Swift may have some bad blood between them, but the rumors are a-swirling that Perry may call the current Queen of the World out in front of all of those viewers. The current reasons for the two pop princesses’ fight is unclear — some speculate it is John Mayer-based, some believe it is something deeper — but the song lyrics have been written. Plenty of sources have hypothesized that Perry will debut a new song at the Super Bowl, some even going so far as to predict it is about Swift. The rumored song title? “She’s So Creepy.” Yikes.
Perry did not pay for her spot
Though there have been rumors surrounding why Perry was asked to perform, the pop singer confirms that she did not pay for her big headline. “I put my foot down very early in the courtship,” Perry explains. The Super Bowl scored about 110 million viewers last year, making the half-time gig a really bankable one for musicians. Though many have claimed that the NFL wanted performers to pay for the spot, Perry didn’t agree.
