Up to this point, I have been concentrating on doing workout playlists for cardio routines. Lifting weights requires just as much (or more) motivation as a brisk walk or run. As for me, I can listen to a lot of music to motivate me during weight lifting sessions, but I often gravitate towards heavy music. Pretending I’m angry helps or at least gets the testosterone pumping a little.
So, as you might suspect, this list may be more of a “guy thing.” Of course, there are plenty of women who like heavy music, so if you’re out there and want to make some suggestions on what kind of heavy music you like to pump iron to, let us know.
I’m 40 years old, so when I’m in the mood for heavy music, it tends to be a little more “old school.” Hey, I know I’m getting old when the stuff I listened to in the ’90s is now considered old school… and this list will mostly predate that!
The Big Four of Thrash are represented here, along with a fifth who I think deserves to be in that revered club – Testament. Anyway, without further adieu, here is my heavy metal mix that gets my blood pumping for the weights.
