If you’re the snack bar type like me, then you have something new to rejoice over.
The LUNA Bar company has just released a new line of healthy snack bars that have a specific emphasis on fiber. The bars come in three delicious flavors – vanilla blueberry, chocolate raspberry, and peanut butter strawberry. And they all pack an impressive nutritional punch.
With fiber being all the craze these days, LUNA couldn’t resist getting in on the trend, and has developed a 70% organic bar to keep you fuller longer on a mere 120 calories. Each bar contains what LUNA calls their ‘Core 4 Combo’ – calcium, iron, Vitamin D, and folic acid – so you can eat deliciously without sacrificing nutrition one bit.
The bars are also certified kosher and completely free of trans fats, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, flavors , preservatives, and ingredients sourced from GMOs. Why can’t all companies be like LUNA and put forth products with such integrity and quality?
I was able to sample the bars last week through a giveaway promotion and I must say, I was incredibly impressed with their flavor, texture and nutritional make-up. I expected the peanut butter strawberry to be my favorite but the blueberry vanilla gave it a run for its money as it tasted like a sweet, berry-filled fig newton.
But the real winner? The chocolate strawberry. It tastes like chocolate cake, and not just in a healthy way. It would truly suffice as dessert for me, possibly even crumbled up over a scoop of chocolate ice cream.
I’m usually hesitant to buy bars of this kind because they tend to be high in sugar and contain way too many ingredients – many of which are unrecognizable. However, with this new line of fiber bars, LUNA has managed to keep the ingredients very pure and healthy, and two of the flavors – chocolate raspberry and vanilla blueberry – are even vegan.
Each bar contains between 110-120 calories with 7g fiber, along with essential nutrients women need. They’re also high in calcium and folic acid, and a good source of vitamin D, iron, and antioxidants (vitamins A, C and E). Each bar has between 1-2 grams of protein, 3-4 g of fat, and 11 grams of sugar. And their main sources of fiber come from organic oat fiber, organic agave extract, chicory extract and whole grains. Sounds like one serious fiber serving to us.
LUNA Fiber Bars will be on shelves as early as this week, so be sure to look for them at your local stores. They’re definitely worth a try in our opinion, especially the chocolate raspberry!
