Bachelorette Emily Maynard Stays in Shape By Being a Mom

Bachelorette season 8 has got America talking about southern sweetheart and bachelorette Emily Maynard.

If you don’t know Emily’s heart-touching story, about six years ago Emily was engaged to a race car driver and the love of her life, Ricky Hendrick. But just six months after their engagement, he passed away in a tragic plane crash. Days after Ricky’s death, Emily found out she was pregnant with his child. Emily named her now six-year-old daughter Josephine Reddick “Ricki” Henrick.

Four years after the death of Ricki’s father, Emily jumped back into the dating world and appeared on season 15 of The Bachelor. She turned out to be the winner on the show by winning over bachelor Brad Womack’s heart. Although the couple got engaged on the season finale, they eventually called off the wedding due to a number of reasons. But now, Emily’s back to find true love as Bachelorette Season 8’s woman to win over.

The show, which is now nearing the end of season 8, has shown Emily in her bikini a number of times. What I’ve been wondering is how does Emily get and keep that amazing body of hers?

I heard her mention to one of the bachelors, who happened to be a professional athlete trainer, that she doesn’t work out.  This was hard for me to believe as the beautiful blonde showed off her tight body and toned obliques all season long. So, I decided to do some digging.

What I found out was a little surprising. Emily has discussed on several occasions how her schedule on the show was so busy that she didn’t have a lot of time to worry about a diet plan or fitness routine. But her constant busy schedule was what kept her metabolism going.

The 26-year-old did, however, discuss her awareness of the foods she eats. She enjoys things like salads without the fatty cheeses, susi with brown rice instead of white, and various fruits with peanut butter for a healthy fat calories. Emily’s also admitted to her bad habit of drinking too much Diet Coke, but something she’s started doing to help the problem is drinking a full glass of water when she’s dying for a Coke.

What was most interesting to me was the exercise Emily does partake in when she’s not busy being America’s favorite southern bell on the Bachelorette. Emily tries to use everyday chores and errands to incorporate resistance band training. She’ll use them while cleaning house, doing laundry, and even chasing her adorable daughter, Ricki, around the house.

The season finale is set for tomorrow night, July 22nd, on ABC at 8/7 CST. Emily will pick between either race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr., or entrepreneur  Jef Holm. After the finale, Emily will be sitting down with the man she chose, live, on “After the Final Rose” at 10/9 CST.
