The voluptuous Christina Hendricks has made it clear to the media that she embraces her sexy curves ever since she started steaming up the board room on A&E’s hit series Mad Men. Now, she’s re-emphasizing that statement.
In the summer issue of Health magazine, she says “Back when I was modeling, the first time I went to Italy I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous! I would take my clothes off in front of the mirror and be like, Oh, I look like a woman. And I felt beautiful, and I never tried to lose it, ’cause I loved it!”
It’s a positive statement for women, body image and weight that is not often heard in the Hollywood Hills. While Christina is by no means overweight, her curvy figure is not the norm for the celebrity set.
Looking back on agents who would tell her she’d need to lose weight to get the roles, Hendricks is often surprised to hear when she makes lists for being one of the sexiest, most desirable women.
The red-head admits she can “go to town” on chips and French onion dip, but is actually conscious of living a healthy lifestyle.
While the treadmill bores her, she still does it, along with weight training. She enjoys doing squats and weights while balancing on the BOSU ball.
