Fans of the little Miley Cyrus that was once a bright-eyed, innocent Hannah Montana can officially mourn her loss as an older, more mature version of the mega star has officially stepped out.
On Monday, the 19-year-old star tweeted a picture of herself looking quite grown up in a cropped white shirt and sheer, low-slung skirt. And we must admit, she’s looking pretty amazing as of late.
But cute outfit aside, we noticed her long and lean figure and washboard abs right away, which led us to wonder what the star has been up to lately when it comes to her diet and fitness routine.
We recently reported that Cyrus went gluten free earlier this year as a result of a lactose and gluten allergy. This change, coupled with a continued fitness effort, resulted in a noticeably trimmer figure.
Although this led some to speculate she was suffering from an eating disorder, the star defended her weight loss saying it was natural and purely a result of removing gluten and dairy from her diet – not from starvation.
We can only speculate that this remains her primary eating plan as it wasn’t a choice dictated by fad, but rather by health. Cutting out gluten has a way of helping a person slim down naturally as it cuts out breads, pastries and a surprising amount of other foods, which is why some opt to go gluten free strictly to shed a few pounds.
In fact, recent research has suggested that most people have a gluten intolerance and either ignore it or don’t realize it. So we give credit to Cyrus for listening to her body and doing what she thinks is best when it comes to her diet.
As for her noticeably more tone physique, Cyrus credits this to Pilates. The star has reportedly been visiting instructor Mari Winsor several times a week to keep her body in top shape. As a result of this newly-founded fitness friendship, Winsor has even developed a new at-home Pilates DVD, touting it as an opportunity for people to acquire the star’s fab physique.
Cyrus didn’t stumble upon Pilates all her own. In fact, her mother has practiced with Winsor well.
Winsor told FitSugar in a recent interview: “Her mother had done Winsor Pilates, and when Miley wanted to do Pilates, her mom recommended me. Her [Miley’s] results are due to her commitment, hard work, and everyday workouts,” she said. “I believe what attracts all stars to Pilates is that it’s safe, effective and the results are very fast when done correctly.”
Winsor’s new DVD – “Mari Winsor’s Lower Body Pilates” – includes three workouts, costs about $15, and focuses on the hips, glutes, butt, and inner and outer thighs.
Of Miley’s newfound interest in the practice, Winsor explained “Miley is a fan of all Pilates exercises, in particular those that sculpt the abs.”
And so it appears Pilates and a gluten-free diet have been the key ingredients for the young star’s slim down, as she’s looking more fit and toned than ever. We’re sure this will serve her well at her upcoming wedding to fiancee Liam Hemsworth where she’ll surely be a breathtaking bride.
