Mini Bio
Richard “Rick” de Roque is an emotional eater, an unhealthy condition that likely stems from the poor relationship with his father while growing up. Rick’s father was a strict man who didn’t share affection; in fact, Rick can’t recall ever hearing “I love you” from him. He never felt he could measure up to his father. After his father’s passing more than 20 years ago, Rick started feeding his pain with food.
Rick was an active youth, playing two years of junior college football, during which time he weighed 170 pounds and ran six miles each day. It wasn’t until he was in his 20s did he begin to gain weight. Raised in a large family, Rick and his wife made one of their own, with five adult children and eight grandchildren. Rick wants to be the father and grandfather to his family that his father never was, physically and emotionally.
