Fans of the TV show Dancing with the Stars will be thrilled to know that season 13 is starting on September 19. The new cast has been announced and includes:
Ricki Lake: Ricki Lake is an actress and talk show host. Ricki has a new talk show that will start in the fall of 2024. Her professional dance partner will be Derek Hough.
Ron Artest: Ron Artest is a professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers. His professional dance partner will be Peta Murgatroyd.
Rob Kardashian: Rob Kardashian is the only son of Kris Jenner and the late Robert Kardashian and stars along his famous sisters in the reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. His professional dance partner will be Cheryl Burke.
Nancy Grace: Nancy Grace is one of television’s most respected legal analysts and a former felony prosecutor. Nancy’s professional dance partner will be Tristan MacManus.
Kristin Cavallari: Kristin Cavallari has starred in television shows like Laguna Beach and The Hills and movies like Van Wilder: Freshman Year, Wild Cherry and ABC’s The Middle. Her professional dance partner will be Mark Ballas.
J.R. Martinez: J.R. Martinez is an Iraq war veteran, actor and motivational speaker. He suffered severe burns to over 40 percent of his body in 2003 when his Humvee hit a landmine in Iraq. He is currently starring on ABC’s All My Children as combat veteran Brot Monroe. His professional dance partner will be Karina Smirnoff.
Hope Solo: Hope Solo has been a starter for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team since 2005 and is widely considered the best goalkeeper in the world. Hope’s professional dance partner will be Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Elisabetta Canalis: Elisabetta Canalis has been on the cover of magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ. Some of her American credits include the movie Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalo, Virgin Territory and the TNT show Leverage. Her professional dance partner will be Val Chmerkovskiy.
David Arquette: David Arquette has starred in numerous TV shows and films including the Scream series. Along with his acting, he also writes, directs and produces. His professional dance partner will be Kym Johnson.
Chynna Phillips: Chynna Phillips is a member of the trio Wilson Phillips, which was declared the best-selling female group of all time by Billboard. Her professional dance partner will be Tony Dovolani.
Chaz Bono: Chaz Bono is the only child of Sonny and Cher as well as a three-time author and an LGBT advocate. Chaz received three Emmy nominations for the documentary Becoming Chaz, which followed his transformation from woman to man. Chaz’s professional dancing partner will be Lacey Schwimmer.
Carson Kressley: Carson Kressley is a celebrity stylist, fashion designer and TV star. He stars currently in Carson-Nation, a reality show on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN. His professional dance partner will be Anna Trebunskaya.
Something that you will notice with every season of the show is how the celebrities’ bodies change. Being a contestant on Dancing with the Stars requires hours of dance training each day for a period of several weeks. Most contestants that have any weight to lose see some real changes in their bodies.
Previous contestants like Kendra Wilkinson, Kirstie Alley, Marie Osmond and Jake Pavelka all lost weight during their time on the show. Alley actually lost a total of 38 inches from her body between her dancing debut and the show’s finale. Each couple practices at least six hours per day while training for the show, so it’s not surprising that these stars would lose weight.
