Mini Bio
Sam was born on the tiny island of American Samoa. At only eight months old, Sam was adopted by his uncle and aunt, who live in the United States. Growing up in a large Samoan family, being heavy was normal. There were always numerous family gatherings with plenty of food. Sam now works mainly in security with an abnormal schedule; he works late nights and sleeps during the day. Sam also volunteers as a youth football coach. This pattern does not help establish healthy eating habits as he normally eats at late or odd hours. Not only does Sam want to become healthier and mange his weight, but he also wants to develop better eating and fitness habits. Many people in Sam’s family have diabetes, hypertension and gout. Sam believes that if he can do this for himself, he will be a great example to his family and many others in his culture. He intends on winning The Biggest Loser and sharing what he learns to his large family (where he is one of more than 150 grandchildren and great-grandchildren).
Other Spellings Sammy, Samuel, Samm, Pouou, Palu
